X3 terran conflict vs x3 reunion3/24/2023 ![]() The main "plot" has always been a joke, and side plots you don't even know they're side plots until you already know because you played enough or read it somewhere.Īs it is now, some things we would consider common sense are still not possible, work in mysterious ways, or just don't. You can still get a lot of quality time out of it, but it's a big pile of empty ♥♥♥♥ tagged as a sandbox - meaning you can do whatever the heck you want, but guidance for absolutely nothing. Like other games out there, it was released in a poorly functional state, with little content, fed by goodwill and teasing of dlc.īasically, id say ES learned NOTHING from the previous games. Split have been "released" as a dlc, no terrans, no boron. X4 is unpolished, and a lot of content has been left out. I know having "Way too much stuff to do/things to buy" is subjective but I think with the Xtended references you kinda get the gist of what I'm saying. I'd like to wait until there is a crazy, overwhelming amount of content since these types of games can literally take over my life and I'd like to have one nice 500-hour experience with WAAAAAy too much stuff to do/things to buy/ships to fly rather than put a bunch of hours in only to have something akin to Xtended come out and make me want to start over again to experience the "Overwhelming Content" version. Was planning to watch and wait and see how this game developed and I figure it's been enough time to see how it's panning out. Also is there an Xtended-type-deal with this one? Was wondering where this game stands in terms of just overall STUFF (weapons, ships, places to explore, etc) compared to X3 with Xtended. I forgot the name but it wasn't Litcube- it was. Oh, and one thing - your spacesuit in TC has a repair laser which you can use to fix damaged ship hulls, rather than paying a fortune for repairs in a shipyard.I played a ton of Terran Conflict and the first X3 with that mod that adds entire new sectors, piles of new ships, etc etc. I'm now on a vanilla game of TC (but considering modding free-jumps in, as the E-Cell jump system annoys me intensely), but IMO you'll get a lot more out of TC if you had similar feelings to me about Reunion. There is a 'classic' flight mode but I have no idea how it differs to the 'standard' flight mode of TC, or the old flight mode of Reunion. Mouse control is handy, but I played R with a joypad and still do with TC. One thing that has apparently changed is the control/flight method, though tbh I'm not sure exactly how. There are also a lot more ships and weapons to play with, as well as Marines & boarding pods for capturing capital ships and missile corvette-class ships (M7M), but I can't say much about those as I've barely scratched the surface of the Terran plot, let alone anything else! You can also assign groups of ships to 'wings' to make group/fleet management easier. And the encyclopaedia is a godsend - means you don't have to spend hours searching for a particular weapon or upgrade is sold, and provides lots of helpful information. ![]() ![]() The dialogue isn't miles ahead but the character visuals are a little better, as are the visuals in general. The interface is better, the amount of missions/plots/things to do have increased dramatically and been made more obvious with icons on ships & stations. Playing R gave me a good understanding of the basics and has made my start in TC much easier. I'm not ashamed to say I scripted & cheated loads in R simply as a survival mechanism so I could keep playing the game in the early stages, it was so complicated (in terms of weapons, ships, stations etc)! I had similar feelings to you playing R - story was ok, but not enough of it - and the complexity was overwhelming. I've just made the jump to TC after playing Reunion while I waited for my new PC to arrive. Might be 'Gold Edition' because it contains both Reunion & Terran Conflict, same as I got recently.
